Is this just a poor mans carbon boom ? It is innately fast, reaching an impressive straight-line speed even though it encourages a more upright manoeuvre-oriented stance.

Reading this extensive article on carbon booms,it does seem that the new model platinum boom may well be the best.I've never had aproblem of mast slippage with my Maui boom.
Rather than having an on-off character like the Salt Pro (tested in the Jan-Feb issue), the Spy’s delivery is more fixed and unwavering without being too direct, always letting the rider know where the source is. 9 Dec 2015 11:06AM

I'd like to see mr petermandk and North refute that and warranty the grip for say 3yrs first.the only carbon boom i have ever had is an HPL 220-280 The red Aeron booms where very solid but indeed a bit in the heavy side, after taking the water taxi thanks to a black Aeron boom disintegrating in the middle of both arms, I'll be happily use the red one again.I would argue the best carbon boom is the one you can still get parts for. All new ultralight boom for foil and racing – extremely lightweight.
