I found the entire movie intense to the very end. It of course has left the theaters months ago where it can be best seen in its visual intensity on the big screen. The movie was just a little too focused on this director's grandfather - a great story but not worthy of being called one of the best war films of all time as reviewed by Rolling Stone.
